As drug abuse and addiction has evolved into a very prevalent part of our society, more and more drug rehab centers have opened their doors to help those suffering with substance dependency issues. Unfortunately, this has become a double-edged sword in the sense that there are more of these facilities available, but it is this improved availability that has made selecting the right facility so challenging and frustrating. The same holds true for Florida drug rehab centers.

The basic types of facilities and programs

In the field of drug addiction treatment and recovery, there are two basic types of facilities that you can enter – the traditional facility or the more alternative ones. The key difference between the two is that the traditional Florida drug rehab facilities do not address all of the client’s personal needs like the alternative facilities do. They tend to rely on the older, more conventional therapies that many consider to be out of date and ineffective. Conversely, the alternative facilities take a more innovative approach to treatment and recovery.

Another aspect to take into consideration is the length of stay involved with the different Florida drug rehab centers. Again, there are two basic formats, the in-patient and the out-patient. The out-patient program enables the client to return home in the evenings after taking care of their daily obligations (school or work) without interruption. In-patient programs require that you reside full-time in their facilities for either the short-term (14 to 28 days) or the long-term (up to 4 months).

Traditional Florida drug rehab centers are clinical or hospital like in appearance which has the tendency to intimidate the client when they first enter them. On the other hand, the alternative facility is constructed in a residential format so that the client is welcomed into a more comforting homelike environment to recover in. Additionally, the alternative facility features many of the amenities that the client is accustomed to at home while at the same time providing them with recovery tools such as classes and educational materials.
