Short Term Drug Rehab
What is short-term drug rehab?
As opposed to out-patient or long-term in-patient addiction treatment and recovery programs, short-term drug rehab is exactly what the name implies. You are entering a drug rehab program to overcome your addiction and successfully recover from it in a 30-day period. You will find that the majority of these programs are listed as 14 to 28 days in duration, unlike the long-term program that can last up to 4 months or longer.
What you want to remember first and foremost is that the short-term drug rehab program is not for everyone. Typically, this particular type of addiction treatment and recovery program is geared to the individual that is not a candidate for a long-term or out-patient drug rehab program. One way or the other, the short-term program is typically residential in nature and the client resides there until the program is completed.
Additionally, detoxification may or may not be required in the short-term drug rehab whereas it is always required in the in-patient, long-term programs. The need for the detox stage is based on the depth and severity of the individual’s addiction. Some of these programs employ the 12-Step modality whereas others do not. You will find that no two short-term programs are alike because no two individuals are ever alike.
What makes this program so effective?
When you compare the short-term drug rehab program that takes place in a residential environment versus the traditional type that takes place in a facility that looks like a clinic or a hospital, you can see how the alternative, residential facility is more conducive to a total recovery. The clinical or hospital like appearance of the traditional facility can be very intimidating to the client whereas the residential facility is geared to the client’s comfort and peace of mind.
Unlike the traditional addiction treatment and recovery center that takes a one-size-fits-all approach to treating their clients, the alternative facility realizes that no two individuals are ever alike. One type of short-term drug rehab program may work perfectly for you but may not be effective for the next client. Regardless of the facility and the program, the goal is the same – to enable you to experience a total recovery so that when you return home to your community, you remain substance-free for life.
